Rome, Italy – In what historians are already calling “the most charming political accident of the 21st century”, actor Ryan Reynolds has accidentally become the mayor of a sleepy Italian village after misinterpreting a handwritten fan letter.
According to sources, the Deadpool star received a beautifully scripted letter from an Italian village called “Vignettarella del Sole,” which he assumed was simply fan mail. The letter was actually an official invitation to run for mayor—and in true Ryan Reynolds fashion, he responded jokingly with a selfie holding a wine glass and the words “Let’s do this, baby!” written across the photo in red Sharpie.
The village council, thinking this was an enthusiastic acceptance, filed the paperwork, and within days, Reynolds was officially listed as the only candidate. Italian law then declared him the new mayor “by sheer charisma and popular vote of 57 confused old men and a goat.”
Reynolds Reacts
At first, Reynolds thought it was a prank by Hugh Jackman.
“I thought Hugh was doing one of his Aussie pranks again—like the time he sent me 400 kangaroo-shaped chocolates with my face on them,” Reynolds said during a surprise press conference held outside the local gelato shop. “But nope. I guess I’m in charge now?”
Mayoral Duties: So Far, So Good
In his first week as mayor, Reynolds:
Declared Tuesday “Free Aperitivo Day” (to overwhelming public support),
Ordered every street to be renamed after Marvel characters (locals are still trying to figure out why the butcher shop is now on “Thanos Boulevard”),
And tried to install a “Wade Wilson Water Slide” down the church steps (rejected by the town’s 92-year-old nun, Sister Maria, who now arm-wrestles him daily out of protest).
Blake Lively’s Statement
Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, reportedly supports the move—but only if the mayoral palace has “at least three walk-in closets and a pasta-making room.” Their kids have already enrolled in the village school, where they’re learning how to yell “Mamma Mia!” authentically.
The Villagers? Loving It.
Local resident Giuseppe Farfalle (74), said, “We didn’t know who this man was. But now… Deadpool gives me free wine. What more can a man ask for?”
Reynolds is now considering renaming the town to “Vignettarella: The Musical” and starting a rom-com production company with the local cheese-maker. Netflix has already greenlit a 10-part series titled, “My Accidental Mayor: The Ryan Reynolds Chronicles”, premiering this fall. Keep Reading Fakyshaky.com
